Our Organizations

United Power for Action (UPA) is the statewide umbrella for all affiliates of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in North Carolina. UPA is comprised of 5 independent, locally-controlled organizations that have a strong track record of organizing for social justice and creating systemic change on issues impacting North Carolinians.

The current combined membership of all UPA organizations is 179 civil sector institutions (churches, synagogues, mosques, neighborhoods, sports associations, parent-teacher organizations, nonprofits, etc.) representing over 100,000 North Carolinians. Our organizations bring together many different institutions and their leaders in a broad-base that reflects the full diversity of the counties in which we organize.
